In Loving Memory of Godfrey Greenwood 

November 17, 1927 - January 16, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Godfrey Greenwood at the age of 97. A devoted husband, cherished father, grandfather, uncle and treasured friend, Godfrey lived a long, fulfilling life marked by love, faith, and an unwavering dedication to his family.

Mr. Godfrey Greenwood entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at his residence. Godfrey was born to Joe and Mary (Haynes) Greenwood on November 17, 1927. Godfrey was a man of great character and resilience. He built a legacy of kindness and strength that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him. His life’s work and passions were matched only by his deep love for his family, especially his beloved wife, Bobbie, with whom he shared 74 years of marriage. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unwavering support.

As a proud father of nine children—Barbara, Shirleye, Michael, Sandra, Joyce, Gregory, Marjorie, Jacquelynne, and Ericka (Jarquez), Godfrey was a constant source of wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. He delighted in the accomplishments and joys of his family and took pride in the countless lives he touched through his compassion and generosity.

Godfrey worked over 60 years alongside his brother Joe, at Joe’s Cleaners in West Point, GA. In earlier years, he loved working in his yard, going to church, watching sports, the westerns and traveling with his family. 

Godfrey is survived by his devoted wife Bobbie, his nine children, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless friends who were like family to him. His legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Godfrey’s memory to Goodsell United Methodist Church.
