Marie Shonta Coleman Turner beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, companion, and friend departed this earthly life on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the age of 61. She was the firstborn child of Bernice Coleman Evans and Otis Dear. Marie was born September 2, 1963, in Jackson, Mississippi. When her Mom relocated to Louisiana. Marie attended schools in Springfield, Natalbany and Ponchatoula. For several years she worked in the food service industry. At the time of her death, Marie was employed as a caretaker.
Marie accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized at First True Love Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Ernest Carter, Sr. At the time of her death Marie, remained a member of the now, First True Love World Outreach Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Carl Coleman. She was a fun-loving person, and her laughter could lighten up a room.
Marie was a beacon of light in her family's life, always smiling and performing random acts of kindness. Her great accomplishments were being a mother to her three children: Latarsha, Tyhoma, and Carlos and grandmother to "CJ." Marie's compassion and unwavering love for her family was evident in everything she did. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire and guide her family, Her heart was filled with adoration, and her spirit filled with joy. Her legacy of love will never fade.
Those she leaves to cherish precious memories are her daughters: Latarsha Renee' Coleman and Tyhoma Lechea Peters; son and daughter-in-law, Carlos Antonio Coleman, Sr. and Jessica; grandson, Carlos Antonio Coleman, Jr. ; mother, Bernice Coleman Evans; father, Otis Dear; sister and brother-in-law, Zina and Michael Conley; sisters, Eldria Jean Dear, Annette Lynn, and Tina Lynn; sister and brother-in-law, Cherylyn and Randy Profit, sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Claude Reed; brothers, Michael Dear, Eugene Evans, Sr., brother and sister-in-law, Morris Evans, Jr. and Wanda, brothers, Edmond Jenkins, Jeffrey Lee Jenkins, Otis Tyrone Jenkins, and Samuel Lynn; special companion, Juan Brown, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Beulah Chaney; aunt, Patsy Dear; uncle, Charles Ard; sister, Barbar Dear; brother, Carl Demetric Dear, and niece, Tewana Evans.
