Myra Elizabeth Wright Sanders was born in Hammond, La to the late Annie B. Jackson Wells and Wesley Pap Wright Sr. on January 31, 1939. She was the third of seven children in the family.
Myra was joined in Holy Matrimony to Roy Sanders Sr. July 17, 1957, and to this union four children were born. Roy N. Sanders Jr., Jacqueline F. Sanders, Dwana M. Sanders and Gwendolyn Sanders.
Myra was educated in the Tangipahoa Parish School. She was later employed by Southeastern Louisiana University for 20 years. She then moved on to be a homemaker helping raise many families in the community, including her bonus children Dr. Will and Betsy Kophler. Myra enjoyed cooking, sewing and cleaning. She was known for her famous dressing recipe. Everyone around the neighborhood had to have it. Myra was a sweet and affectionate person. She loved everyone and embraced them with her sweet hugs and kisses.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Roy N. Sanders Sr., parents Annie B. Jackson Wells & Wesley Pap Wright Sr, son Roy N. Sanders Jr., one grandson Tory Sanders Banks and a host of grandparents, siblings, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 29 from 9:00 A.M. until the Celebration of Life at 10:00 A.M. at ReVision Church, 118 N. Scanlan Street, Hammond, LA. Interment will be at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, 908 Western Avenue, Hammond, Louisiana. Pastor Jarvis Crockerham, Senior Pastor and Rev. Michael Jackson, Officiating.
